Technical Info: Figure (Vicky 4) and pirate ship were first rendered using Poser Pro using the Fire Fly render engine. Background painted from scratch and figure re-paint was done with a Wacom Intuos 3 series tablet & pen (9x12) in Adobe Photoshop CS3. Approx. 35 hours. Original is over 9000 pixels.

In this work I was trying to give the viewer a sense that the mermaid herself is the "treasure" or that only she knows where the "pirate's treasure" would be because of the tattoos on her back and arms, just an idea I came up with over coffee one morning.

Created for a book series called "Filles de Lune" published from a Canadian publishing company, this is book 3 in the series.

Client wanted a woman walking out of the water with wings either folded down or up. Talisman around her neck is from the book. Specifics for the work included black hair, nudity, blue eyes, a magic effect, etc. I tried to do something a bit "ethereal."

Reference of a photo I took of my back yard and wind chimes used to create the background. All of the leaves and chimes are hand painted.

The figure is created first in Poser 7 using the V4 model. I placed her in the scene in Photoshop and painted over her and blended her into the surroundings.

I was going for a very happy, joyful/fun feeling & mood.
